Considering Hydrostatic Head and Sun Protection Factor When Buying a Tent

Tents are available in various kinds of material that are suitable for different weather conditions. Fabrics can include cotton canvas, nylon, polyester and felt. Canvas can absorb water but it can also become very bulky once it takes in all the water. On the other hand polyester and nylon are lightweight and do not take in much water and so with the right kind of coating they can become completely waterproof. However as years pass by these fabrics tend to wear due to constant exposure to harsh UV rays. It is therefore necessary to see how much resistance each kind of tent fabric has against natural conditions such as the sunlight and rain.

Polyurethane is commonly used as a coating on nylon and polyester tents. The coatings are available with different resistance power and the strength of this resistance is generally measured in Hydrostatic Head. The more the Hydrostatic Head the greater will be the durability of the tent and the longer will its coating last. Resistance against rain is calculated in millimetres and the different levels indicate the force of water required to enter the fabric. A heavy down pour exerts more pressure as compared to a light shower.

If a fabric indicates a hydrostatic head of 1000mm, it can be classified as good enough for a light shower. A hydrostatic head of 1500mm in a tent fabric is appropriate for summer camps while 2000mm fabrics are durable for more weather types. Flysheets can be a good 5000mm and above while groundsheets can exceed this limit. A tent fabric with a hydrostatic head of 3000mm can be used for expeditions.

The other aspect that we must take into consideration while selecting a good quality tent is the sun protection factor.
The sun protection factor or SPF shows how long you can expose yourself to the harsh ultraviolet rays of the sun. The greater the SPF number the more protection you have from the sun. Just as tent fabrics are checked for their water resistance, similarly they are marked for their UV protection, which is generally between SPF35 to SPF50. You can find tents with much higher SPF protection but that also means paying that bit extra.

However it is always more sensible to buy a tent that provides you the maximum SPF protection because you are outdoors for several days and need the best safety measures for your skin. Ultraviolet rays can be very harmful to your skin, so make sure that the tent you buy gives you a good amount of safety from the suns rays by blocking the rays from penetrating the tent fabric.

While your tent takes care of you, it is also required that you take equally good care of it. To ensure that it lasts longer after beating the extreme heat and heavy rainfall, you must take care that it is stored properly without too many bends and folds. The fabric can also show wear and tear if not cared for and these are clearly visible at the folds. So make sure you protect it as much as it protects you.

Caring for Leather Shoes

Designer shoes are always a subject of great interest both for men and women. They are mostly an accessory to the formal attire in case of men and women enjoy using them for both casual and formal occasions.  Good quality leather shoes are always very expensive and taking proper care of them is very essential to avoid spending on a new pair. Investing a few minutes to take care of leather shoes will help in preserving the looks of your most beloved pair of shoes and helps in saving a small fortune.

Steps in taking care of your leather shoes:

ü  Clean the dirt and dust after every usage using a soft brush or a cloth.

ü  Do not use wet cloth to wipe the leather shoes because moisture will make the leather look old and worn out, and they will wear away very soon.

ü  Always make sure to dry the shoes after each use. Allowing the leather to dry naturally is the best way it allows the leather to breathe, remember that leather is just like our skin. Placing it under the sun will make the leather dry and will cause it to dry and break away.

ü  Use shoe trees for your leather shoes to retain the shape, the other cheap alternative is to just crush the newspaper and stuff into the shoes after using it. This helps to maintain the shape and also to remove the excess moisture.

ü  Use shoe horns to put your shoes even if it’s not really essential, this will help in preventing the creases formed near the toes.

ü  Polish your designer shoes with the right colour and with a good quality shoe polish to make it sparkle.
Make sure to wipe off the excess polish if any.

ü  Apply some leather food after you polish your shoes. This helps in providing the necessary moisture required for the leather shoes, and also restores the damages caused to leather by water, excessive drying out and also the sweat built up in the shoes. In order to achieve best results it can be used along with the leather cleanser which ensures that the leather food penetrates deeply.

ü  If your leather shoes are too dirty, then you can try using some natural soap products on a damp cloth, apply on the shoes, wipe off and allow it to dry.  Do not use harsh chemicals or detergents on the leather shoes because it will damage the leather and will make them age.

When you take good care of your designer shoes you can enjoy using it for a longer time, as we all know the well-known saying that states “No Pain, No Gain”.

Skin Care For Acne

Acne or pimples, as some people call them, is a very common problem amongst the youngsters. With the help of acne skin care products you can clear the acne on your face as well as prevent them from coming back.

Here are some things, that people whose skin is prone to acne, should stay away from:

Due to the excess of oil the pimples come out. More oil will clog the pores and worsen the acne.
Some people rub alcohol on the acne affected area to dry out the oil in the pimples. This does not help to clear the acne; instead it irritates the skin and results in more pimple break outs.
Tanning damages the skin. Use sunscreen lotions when you go out.
Throughout the day your hand touches all sorts of things, touching your face very often can increase the acne problem or even cause pimple break outs.

The Right Nutrients Can Mean Less Wrinkles For Sun-Damaged Skin

If you want less wrinkles, there are a number of things that you can do throughout your life. But, if you have been neglectful over the years, don’t worry, there are still some things that you can do. Recent studies have shown that even sun damage can be corrected with topically applied nutrients. First, let’s look at some of the things that everyone should be doing to protect their skin’s health.

The sun has a huge impact on your future appearance, as sun worshipers from the 1980s are beginning to see now. Because of this, you hear screams to “wear sunscreen, wear sunscreen!” What they should be saying is sun-block and they should be specific about the ingredient to look for, because zinc oxide is the only sun-block that is proven safe and effective.

Many sunscreens are ineffective because they only inhibit a portion of the UV spectrum. Others have actually been shown to do the same kind of damage that UV radiation does. Wearing a sunscreen makes the user feel protected and as a result, he or she may spend too much time in the sun.

The best choice is to limit exposure to no more than 15 or 20 minutes per day. If you are enjoying a day at the beach, take breaks in the shade from time to time. Wear a big floppy hat and sunglasses. You’ll have less wrinkles in years to come, as a result.

Now, let’s look at the nutrients that have been shown to repair sun damage. One of them is the antioxidant coenzyme Q10. Studies have shown that after six weeks of topical use, the skin’s hydration improves and there is a decrease in roughness and wrinkling. If it helps sun-damaged skin, then COQ10 can help anyone have less wrinkles.

But, you can’t just go buy a supplement.
Crush it up. Mix it with some water and apply it to your face every day. COQ10 does not penetrate deeply unless it is properly formulated. Manufacturers are aware of this, but most do not make the effort that it takes to enhance absorption.

The solution that has been shown to penetrate most deeply is called HEQ10. It was formulated using nanotechnology and has been proven to penetrate through seven of the skin’s layers. That takes it into the dermis where the collagen fibers are located.

In order to have less wrinkles, the collagen fibers must be repaired, protected and stimulated to grow. HEQ10 takes care of repairing and protecting. Bioactive keratin stimulates the production of new cells and fibers. This improves thickness and firmness.

There are some excellent creams on the market that contain both HEQ10 and bioactive keratin. It may take a little effort to find them. Those ingredients are not yet available in the big name brands. The research is just coming out. It takes mass producers years to catch up with the latest technology.

The ingredients are available in products manufactured by some of the smaller, but better companies. They can help us have less wrinkles today and tomorrow.
